XP system. There are still millions of XP computers out there. You will note that if you are try to run this on another OS you will need to install this in another manner. If it is a Windows XP then simply click on the EXE file and it will install. If you want to install this on Windows 7 or Windows 10 you will need to download the ZIP file and then extract the files. Click into the Windows XP directory and then look for the INF file in this directory. This you will know is made for the Windows 98/ME and Windows 2000 and WinXP operating system. This was a 2004 driver for the SMC Compact USB to Ethernet converter.

SMC 2208 Installation

Click into the WinXP directory and the find the INF file and then right-click on the file. The new menu that comes up. You will need to click on ‘Install” on the menu.

The driver will then install the driver. Windows 7 or Windows 10 will then show that it has found new hardware and install it. You can then use the device or you can reboot your computer for the device to work. See the pictures above to see the files in the directory.
