Downloading the File

1. First, click on the button that says “Download File”.
2. Next, a window will pop up on your screen. This is the “File Download” window. When you see it, click on the “Save” button. This will save the file to your computer’s hard drive.

Installing the File

1. Once the file is downloaded, go to the place on your computer where the file was saved. Find the file and double-click on it.
2. A dialog window will open up with some information. Take a moment to read through it.
3. Before you can continue, there might be some other things you need to download and install. These are called “prerequisites”. If the dialog window tells you that there are prerequisites, make sure to download and install them.
4. After that, click the button that says “Install”.
5. Finally, just follow any other instructions that come up to finish the update.

What Does This Apply To? This applies to the FTDI USB Serial Port Driver. It works with Windows 11 and Windows 10 (64-bit). It’s compatible with the Latitude 5430 Rugged and Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme systems. See also the Hardware ID on here.

Finding the Hardware ID of Your Port

1. To start, open the Device Manager on your computer.
2. Then, find “USB Serial Port (COMx)” and right-click on it. Choose “Properties”.
3. In the Properties, click on the “Details” tab. Then, from the dropdown menu, select “Hardware Ids”.
4. The Hardware IDs will be displayed. These IDs tell you what kind of port you have. For example, “FTDIBUS\COMPORT&VID_0403&PID _6001” is for an RS232 Serial Port.
