The Windows XP RTL8153 driver below is for the RTL8153 network card from Realtek. You can also find the Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 driver for this card on this website. Search this website for more information and drivers. These had been the last drivers released for 2015.
Windows XP RTL8153 Driver
The RTL8153 is another hardware product from Realtek. The brand might be Dell but the internals are all Realtek hardware. Most times this driver will work on any computer as long as the hardware is the same. See also the xps one 2720 on here. These are products that usually make their own installers but the hardware driver is the exact same. Don’t be put off by this. The RTL8153 was released in 2015 for Windows XP.
The drivers are getting harder to find even though the hardware does not die out. There are millions of these older hardware still on the market. This long after the manufacturer has stopped making the product. Many also do not update the latest drivers to include the older hardware. A very good example is in the UART filed where the newer drivers for the ft232r usb uart driver Windows 10 where the drivers don’t work on the older models of the UART. Now much like that hardware this one is the same.
How to install RTL8153 driver from an INF file

Lastly also see the Windows Vista RTL8153 Driver on here.
- keys. Then, find the Device Manager there.
- Find Your Device: Look through the Device Manager until you find the specific part of your computer you want to update.
- Update Driver: Right-click on that part and choose to update its driver, which is like giving it new instructions.
- Choose the Right File: Tell your computer where to find the new instructions. It’s like telling it to read from a specific book.
- Install: Open the new instructions (the file you picked) and let your computer learn from them.
Remember to download the right file before doing these steps. If it’s in a zip folder, unzip it and keep it somewhere easy to find. You can get the needed file from the Realtek website.
Now look for the INF file and with this driver it is the rtuxp.INF file. You will need to right-click on the file and then click on ‘install’ on the new menu after you right-clicked on the file. Windows will then tell you that if found new hardware and it is busy installing the driver. That’s about it. Likewise also see the Windows 10 RTL8153 driver and Windows 7 RTL8153 Driver on here.
To see if a new driver has been installed properly on your computer, do this:
- Open Device Manager: Press the Windows key and ‘R’ at the same time, type ‘devmgmt.msc’, and press Enter.
- Find Your Device: Look for the device you installed the driver for in the list.
- Check the Driver Version: Right-click on the device, then click ‘Properties’. In the window that opens, click on the ‘Driver’ tab. You’ll see the version of the driver there.
If the version matches the one you installed, the driver is installed correctly. If you need to check drivers for multiple devices, there’s a special command you can use in PowerShell, a tool in Windows, to show all installed drivers and their versions.
If you notice that the driver on your computer isn’t the right version, it could mean the installation didn’t work or Windows updated it without asking. Here’s what you can do:
- Try Installing Again: First, try installing the driver again just like before. After you’re done, restart your computer.
- Stop Automatic Updates: Sometimes, Windows updates drivers automatically, which might not be what you want. To stop this:
- Press Windows key + ‘R’, type ‘gpedit.msc’, and press Enter.
- Go to ‘Computer Configuration’ > ‘Administrative Templates’ > ‘Windows Components’ > ‘Windows Update’ in the Local Group Policy Editor.
- Find and double click on ‘Do not include drivers with Windows Updates’.
- In the window, click ‘Enabled’, then ‘Apply’ and ‘OK’.
- Go Back to the Old Version: If Windows updated to a new version that you don’t like, you can go back. Open Device Manager, right-click the device, select ‘Properties’, go to the ‘Driver’ tab, and click ‘Roll Back Driver’.
And always, always make a backup before messing with your computer settings. This way, if something goes wrong, you can go back to how things were before.
